Fully renovated in 2025, this 5-bedroom, 6-bath home in the center of San Miguel exudes warmth, comfort and convenience. A large open-plan great room and kitchen front the beautiful, arched covered porch, with a pool, jacuzzi, and fruit trees beyond. With loads of space to spread out, play games, talk over wine and dine together, this is the perfect home for multigenerational families, groups or couples, or friends reuniting after time apart. This enchanting, brilliantly light home is a masterful blend of contemporary features and decor with a sophisticated interpretation of colonial Mexican architecture. Old-world touches can be found everywhere, from the cantera floors and handmade cement tiles to cabinetry and furniture handcrafted from local rosa morada wood to a spectacular 60-foot covered porch with bespoke stone arches and columns. Graced with a 26-foot, solar-heated pool and jacuzzi, this stunning home is the perfect spot to enjoy all San Miguel has to offer. With 11-foot ceilings and 8-foot windows and doors, it may be the brightest, most inviting home in town!
A real highlight of Casa Colina Roja is the backyard with its 26-foot pool and separate jacuzzi. The pool is heated by solar panels so it is a very comfortable temperature most of the year.
However, it also has gas heating for when you’d just like a little boost in the temp. There's a deep end for treading water and a shallow end with underwater benches for just hanging out with a cold beverage—the kitchen is stocked with West End outdoor glasses and tableware for your poolside enjoyment!
All five bedrooms are located on the second floor. Two face a quiet street and three face the 60-foot-long terrace overlooking the pool. All have French doors leading to a small balcony or the terrace, and all are extremely light and airy with 10-foot-plus ceilings. Four have king beds and one has a pair of twins. All have their own bathroom; the master has a tub in addition to a shower. Air conditioning, blackout drapes, ceiling fans, generous closets, and sumptuous bed linens are found in each bedroom.
This luxury home has been designed with you in mind: its common spaces are grand, open, and bright. The KITCHEN is well stocked for the most ardent chef, with service for 12. Amenities include a dishwasher, fridge with ice maker, dual-fuel professional stove, walk-in pantry, and whole-house pressurized and purified water (drink from every tap!) as well as a reverse-osmosis faucet in the kitchen. There is also AC in the great room for the rare day when you might feel the heat inside this well-insulated home, as well as in each bedroom.
BATHROOMS have a hairdryer and basic toiletries of shampoo, conditioner, body wash and bars of soap.
Downstairs there’s a quiet DEN with full bath for TV viewing or reading, as well as a GAME ROOM with TV for gaming, playing cards, Rummikub, or liar’s dice (a family favorite known locally as dudo). We have loads of board games, dice and puzzles for group fun.
Upstairs is a separate OFFICE with a 10-foot desk and two office chairs, plus a seating area with two comfy lounge chairs for those who wish to work from home. In all that makes three rooms in addition to the large great room/kitchen to spread out and enjoy yourselves!
Casa Colina Roja is located in prestigious Barrio La Aldea, a coveted, gated community with a mix of longtime Mexican residents and expats.
In the heart of Centro, just two blocks from the Rosewood Hotel and the city’s lush urban oasis, Parque Juarez, and four easy blocks from the jardin (central plaza), Aldea is a haven of tranquility and calm. With just five streets and no through access, it allows for easy parking (there is also a 2-car garage for your use) and unhurried taxi drop off.
Outside of its iconic white arch is a multitude of amazing restaurants and markets, including Tostévere, Cafe Rama, Hecho en México, Luna Bar, Raíces, Rústico, Tené at Hotel 1810, and Trattoria Romana. A 24-hour convenience store with all the basics you need, a well-stocked pharmacy, and most importantly, some of San Miguel’s best taco carts are also just outside the gate.
It’s an easy walk to the sites you’ll wish to see—the Instituto Allende, the Mercado Sano Saturday Farmer’s Market, the Luna Bar at the Rosewood, and all the shops and restaurants you’ll want to visit.
